Torsemide is a "water pill" (loop diuretic) that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt. It is used in patients with nephritic syndrome (and other kidney disorders), congestive heart failure and liver disease, as well as for the treatment of high blood pressure. It's important to show up for all of your doctor's appointments, as your blood will need to be tested to make sure you are benefitting from torsemide. The following conditions need to be reported to your doctor before starting to take torsemide: kidney disease, liver disease and an allergy to sulfa drugs. Your dose can be adjusted to avoid harmful effects, or some tests will be performed to make sure torsemide is safe for you to take.
